I truly believe that we are all capable of something great. That each and every single one of us has unique and special gifts that sets us apart from others. Due to each of our gifts and uniqueness I believe that we are all capable of greatness and wrote about that idea and concept last week with the concept of Magnus Opus. However, I think that so many of us get caught up in achieving something great, focusing on getting there that we forget about the journey. We forget about the process and the beauty of what it takes to get there.
The beauty of the journey is that we get to appreciate where we are at the moment. The journey is a collection of the moments and gratitude of experiencing life. When we focus so much on the destination and the end goal we fail to recognize and see the joy and gratitude around us. We get so caught up in doing the next thing that we forget to realize that where we are at on the journey is something we dreamed of in the past. But we look past it because we have gotten so caught up in achieving the dream or goal.
The journey is what makes the goal and dream worthwhile. The journey is where we learn about ourselves, where we ground ourselves, and we find gratitude for where we are going. If we fail to enjoy and experience the journey we will fail to fully appreciate us finally achieving the dream. If we do that then we just pivot to the next thing. In previous Instagram posts and blog posts I have talked about detaching ourselves from the external accolades and achievements. In doing so we can then focus on our own internals and our soul. As I have alluded to and spoken on in previous posts, expressing our soul and focusing on our internals will provide us with joy and gratitude in our relationships and interactions with others.
That’s what makes the journey so special. You are closer to your dreams and desires today than you were yesterday. You have made the conscious and unconscious decision to focus on where you are at and give yourself the grace you need to keep going forward. The journey allows us to recognize when we need to slow down. The journey allows us moments of gratitude and presence. The journey allows us to appreciate where we have been, where we are going, and more importantly where we are currently at. If we ignore the journey and keep always trying to push through towards the end goal we end up with burnout and we may not even get to our destination.
The journey towards the destination makes the feeling of actually getting there that much sweeter. The journey is where we find ourselves. We get to detach from the result of what the destination should be and just appreciate the moment where we are at. There is immense beauty in finding moments like that. Those are the moments of pure joy. Those are the moments we remember. Those are the moments that make it worth it. Love the journey, find yourself in and watch how the universe conspires for you.
